Interest in electric vehicles in Turkey continues to grow. With the launch of the country's domestic and national car, Togg, the electric vehicle market has rapidly expanded. In the last 1.5 years, it has met with over 40,000 Togg users. The electric vehicle market has also recorded growth worldwide over the years. The decision of major industry firms like BYD and Chery to invest in Turkey is a sign that this market will grow even further. INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF REGISTERED ELECTRIC VEHICLESAccording to TÜİK data, as of the end of October, the number of registered cars in Turkey reached 16 million 38 thousand 61. It was observed that the number of registered electric vehicles during the January-October period increased rapidly compared to the previous year. While the total number of registered electric vehicles at the end of last year was 80,043, it reached 153,772 by the end of October. Thus, the number of registered electric vehicles doubled in 10 months. Last year, the share of electric vehicles among all cars was 0.5%, while it reached 1% by the end of October. 9 OUT OF 100 REGISTERED CARS ARE ELECTRICWhen comparing the January-October periods of last year and this year, it was seen that the increasing interest in electric vehicles is reflected in the figures. Accordingly, during the 10-month period of last year, 45,050 electric vehicles were registered, while in the same period this year, 73,817 electric vehicles took their place on the roads. During this period, the number of registered electric vehicles showed a 64% increase. In the January-October period of last year, the share of electric vehicles among registered cars was 5.9%, while this year it rose to 9%. Thus, 9 out of every 100 registered cars are electric.
