Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stated that they are ready to launch an attack on Pakistan if provoked by "terrorist attacks."
In an interview with the political news site Politico, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar made statements regarding the conflicts that arose between his country and Pakistan last month.
THREAT OF ATTACK ON PAKISTAN
Jaishankar expressed that the conditions that led to the conflicts have not changed, accusing Pakistan of "training thousands of terrorists" and "unleashing them" on India.
Jaishankar said that India is prepared to launch attacks on "terrorist organizations and leaders" in Pakistan if provoked by "terrorist attacks." He stated that they would not consider where the targets for their attacks are located, saying, "If they are inside Pakistan, then we will enter Pakistan."
Jaishankar also did not deny that some Indian aircraft were destroyed during the ongoing conflicts between the two countries last month.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Conflicts began between the parties when India launched missile attacks on Pakistani territory and the Azad Kashmir region controlled by Pakistan on May 6, citing retaliation for a terrorist attack on April 22 in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the military operations as "Operation Sindoor" during a cabinet meeting he chaired and described the operation as a "moment of pride." According to the Hindi dictionary, the word "Sindoor" means "the red powder applied to the foreheads of married Hindu women." The two countries declared a ceasefire on May 10 with the mediation of the United States.
