Chinese automotive company BYD has joined the wave of foreign investments in Turkey. The groundwork for the factory to be established in Manisa has begun.
WILL CREATE EMPLOYMENT FOR 20 THOUSAND PEOPLE
Infrastructure works have started in the Manisa Organized Industrial Zone for the Chinese automotive giant BYD, which has decided to invest 1 billion dollars in Manisa. The production facility and R&D center to be established in Manisa are expected to provide direct employment for 5 thousand and indirect employment for 20 thousand people, while production is announced to start in 2026.
INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS IN FULL SWING
Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a contract was signed between the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer, Chinese BYD, and the Ministry of Industry and Technology last July, which created a significant impact in the global automotive sector. Infrastructure works have begun in an area of 160 hectares within the boundaries of the Manisa Organized Industrial Zone for the investment of approximately 1 billion dollars. While infrastructure and leveling works are being carried out with construction machinery in the area where the facilities will be established, new road routes are also being created for access to the region. The electric and rechargeable hybrid vehicle production facility, with an annual capacity of 150 thousand vehicles, and the R&D center for sustainable mobility technologies are expected to start production in 2026. Providing information about the investment, which is expected to create direct employment for 5 thousand and indirect employment for 20 thousand people, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated in a television program, "Production will start in 2026, contracts have been signed. The land allocation process in Manisa OSB has been completed. Permission applications for the factory construction have been made."
