International Emmy Awards Winners Revealed

This year’s event in New York saw a total of 23 countries being represented across 15 categories and 60 nominees.

This year's International Emmy Awards winners were revealed on Monday at a gala in New York.

"The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented Emmys to television creators and performers from eight different countries including the UK, South Korea, Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand," during the 50th International Emmy Awards, a statement from the organizers said.

This year's event saw a total of 23 countries being represented across 15 categories and 60 nominees. Television professionals from around the world attended the gala, which was hosted by Penn & Teller's Penn Jillette.

"Television around the world has really come of age," the statement "ed International Academy President & CEO Bruce Paisner as saying. "What is especially gratifying on this 50th anniversary is seeing the number of countries globally which produce world-class television programs and personalities and win Emmys."

At the event, South Korean actor Song Joong-ki presented the Directorate Award to Miky Lee, Vice Chairwoman of CJ Group, while actors Blair Underwood and Benjamin Bratt presented the Founders Award to writer, director and producer Ava DuVernay.

Directed by James Rogan, Freddie Mercury: The Final Act (UK) won the best Arts Programming award.

The other winners of the International Emmy programs and performances are as follows: Dougray Scott (Best Performance by an Actor), Lou de Laage (Best Performance by an Actress), Sex Education – Season 3 (Comedy), Enfants de Daech, les damnes de la guerre [Iraq's Lost Generation] (Documentary), Vigil (Drama Series), Shaun the Sheep: Flight Before Christmas (Kids: Animation), My Better World (Kids: Factual & Entertainment), KABAM! Kids: Live Action), Queen of Speed (Sports Documentary), Buscando A Frida (Non-English Language US Primetime Program), Love on the Spectrum- Season 2 (Non-Scripted Entertainment), Rurangi (Short-Form Series), Yeonmo [The King's Affection] (Telenovela) and Help (TV Movie/Mini-Series).

Earlier this year, in March, the organizers announced that any entries from Russia submitted to this year's event were disqualified due to Moscow's war on Ukraine.

Emmy "cannot in good conscience do business with any entity associated with or funded by the government of Russia," it said on Twitter. -
