The Ministry of Interior granted permission to investigate Köyceğiz Mayor Ali Erdoğan and Narman Mayor Aydemir Adem Kınalı following probes into attacks by stray dogs in Muğla's Köyceğiz and Erzurum's Narman districts. In Şanlıurfa's Hilvan district, preliminary investigation permission was granted for the mayor due to allegations of failing to fulfill obligations regarding the establishment of an animal shelter.

The Ministry of Interior announced that necessary review and investigation processes regarding allegations about the implementation of legal provisions related to incidents threatening citizens' safety involving stray animals are being conducted meticulously.

In the Ministry's statement, it was stated that an 11-year-old child was seriously injured as a result of an attack by stray dogs in the Köyceğiz district of Muğla, and it was determined that 37 people have received treatment due to similar attacks in the last two years. It was also reminded that Murat Tutar, aged 10, was injured in a stray dog attack in the Narman district of Erzurum.

INVESTIGATION PERMIT FOR TWO MAYORS

Investigations revealed that the animal shelter belonging to Köyceğiz Municipality was inadequate in terms of capacity and operating permits, activities for collecting stray animals were not effectively carried out, and veterinary services were not provided in accordance with regulations.

It was assessed that Narman Municipality had not collected stray animals in its area of responsibility for a long time, and as a result of this negligence, it failed to fulfill its obligations arising from legislation in the dog attack that occurred.

In this context, an investigation permit was granted for Köyceğiz Mayor Ali Erdoğan and Narman Mayor Aydemir Adem Kınalı.
