The escalating tension between the US and Iran around the Strait of Hormuz has turned into a hot conflict. Iran announced that it targeted American military posts in Kuwait and Bahrain with missiles and drones in response to US attacks on Qeshm Island. EMERGENCY PLAN ACTIVATED AT KUWAIT AIRPORT
Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced that an emergency plan was activated after Iranian missiles and drones targeted Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency, agency spokesman Abdullah Al-Rajhi reported that some facilities at the airport were damaged and casualties occurred due to the attack.
FLIGHTS SUSPENDED
Al-Rajhi stated that authorities are acting in accordance with established emergency protocols to ensure the safety of employees and passengers.
Following the attack, air traffic at Kuwait International Airport was suspended. Flights were diverted to nearby airports until further notice.
DAMAGE ASSESSMENT INITIATED
Kuwaiti authorities announced that security and technical precaution plans have been activated to restart airport operations. Technical teams have begun inspections to determine the extent of the damage at the airport before repair work begins.
IRAN'S RETALIATION AGAINST THE US
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it struck bases housing American soldiers in Kuwait with precision missile attacks in response to the US attack on Qeshm Island. Iran also reported that it targeted the US Fifth Fleet Headquarters in Bahrain with missiles and drones.
The statement warned countries that allowed their territories and airspace to be used for attacks against Iran, conveying the message that they would face the consequences of the attacks.
SIRENS SOUNDED IN BAHRAIN
Following the attacks on Kuwait, sirens also sounded across Bahrain. Authorities requested the public to go to safe areas and follow official announcements.
US: WE BLOCKED MOST OF THE ATTACKS
The US Central Command announced that numerous ballistic missiles and drones were destroyed in response to Iran's attack attempts in the region. CENTCOM reported that two missiles heading toward Kuwait failed to reach their target, while three missiles launched toward Bahrain were shot down by US and Bahraini air defense systems.
TENSION RISING IN THE REGION
Iran stated that the disruption of security in the Strait of Hormuz would have severe consequences for the US, while the US side announced that it would remain on alert in the region.
