21.10.2014 00:03

11 Kurdish fighters wounded in the attacks are brought to Turkey for medical attention.

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militants launched a two-car suicide bomb attack in Kobani on Monday.

The attack was aimed at the Kurdish fighter group's arsenal located close to Turkish-Syrian border, local sources told Anadolu Agency on Monday.

The fierce clashes between ISIL militants and the Kurdish fighters intensified in Syrian town of Kobani, known as Ayn al-Arab, in the evening hours.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced on Monday that his country is helping Iraqi Kurdish fighters cross into Syria to "give support" to fellow Kurds defending the border town of Kobani from ISIL.

In addition, 11 Kurdish fighters, including three in critical condition, believed to have been injured in these suicide attacks were brought to Turkey by their relatives and Syrian medics via the Suruc district for medical treatment.

The injured were stretchered from the Mursitpinar border gate and underwent a security control before being taken to the district's hospital.

Turkish security officers boosted security measures around the border gate whilst receiving the injured Kurdish fighters.
