According to a report published by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), this year 67 journalists lost their lives in various attacks around the world, with a significant portion of the deaths resulting from Israel's assaults on Gaza. Israel has become the country with the highest number of fatal actions against journalists in the past three years.
Israel has recorded the highest number of journalist deaths in the world this year, alongside the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) published a report on attacks against media personnel worldwide in 2025. According to the report, 67 journalists lost their lives in various attacks this year, with nearly half of the deaths attributed to Israel. In the attacks carried out by Israel on Gaza, 29 Palestinian media personnel were killed in 2025. This indicates that 43% of the journalists killed worldwide this year were killed in Israeli attacks.
The report noted that Israel has again been recorded as the country with the highest number of journalist deaths in the world this year.
MEXICO BECAME THE SECOND MOST DANGEROUS COUNTRY FOR JOURNALISTS
It was pointed out that Israel has killed more than 220 journalists in its attacks on Gaza since October 2023. It was emphasized that Israel, described as "the worst enemy of journalists," has been recorded as the country with the highest number of media personnel killed in the last three years. The report also mentioned that 20 Palestinian journalists are detained in Israeli prisons. On the other hand, the report noted an increase in attacks on journalists by criminal organizations in Mexico. It was stated that Mexico is the "second most dangerous country" for journalists in the world, with 9 media workers losing their lives in attacks this year.
4 JOURNALISTS KILLED IN SUDAN
In Sudan, where clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have intensified, it was recorded that 4 journalists lost their lives in attacks this year. It was reported that two of the 4 journalists who died in Sudan were killed after being abducted by RSF forces.
