Israel has taken action for a new settlement area in Syria.

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced that he has instructed the Israeli army to remain in the area located in the buffer zone and the territories occupied on Mount Hermon after December 7 during the winter months. Following Katz's statements, images that spread on social media once again revealed Israel's plans in Syria.

THEY DESTROYED A LARGE PART OF SYRIA'S AIR DEFENSE SYSTEM

The Israeli army carried out more than 500 airstrikes on "military targets" in Syria within 48 hours after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime. In a statement from the Israeli army, it was expressed that among the targets hit in the attacks were defense systems and aircraft fleets. It was claimed that 90% of the advanced anti-aircraft missile systems and 85% of the air defense systems in Syria were destroyed in the more than 500 airstrikes conducted within 48 hours after the fall of the Assad regime. The statement also claimed that the Russian-made SU-22 and SU-24 aircraft fleets in Syria were rendered completely unusable, and approximately 40% of the air force was destroyed.

Images revealing Israel's plans in Syria, taking advantage of the fall of the Baath regime, have emerged. In the images that spread on social media, it was revealed that ultra-Orthodox Jews were conducting inspections for a new settlement area in Syria.

WHAT HAPPENED?

After the intensifying clashes in Syria on November 27, the Israeli army increased its attacks on Syria simultaneously with the collapse of the 61-year-old Baath regime on December 8. The Israeli army, which began to destroy the military infrastructure and capabilities left by the regime army, expanded its occupation in the Golan Heights, which is Syrian territory. The Israeli army, which entered the buffer zone around the Golan Heights, advanced its occupation further, reaching as close as 25 kilometers to the capital Damascus. Israel has been occupying the Golan Heights, which belong to Syria, since 1967. The borders of the buffer zone and the demilitarized zone were determined by the Forces Withdrawal Agreement signed between Israel and Syria in 1974.
