Israel Opens Up Bomb Shelters In Tel Aviv, Other Cities

10.05.2021 23:57

Shelters also opened up in Jaffa, Givatayim, Bnei Brak and Haifa.

Israel on Monday opened up bomb shelters in Tel Aviv in the wake of rockets fired from the Gaza Strip in response to the Israeli aggression at the Al-Aqsa mosque.

According to Israel's Army Radio, the shelters were also opened up in Jaffa, Givatayim, Bnei Brak and Haifa.

Meanwhile, the Israeli public broadcaster KAN said that the army is preparing for any rockets fired from the Gaza Strip towards the Gush Dan metropolitan area, which includes Tel Aviv and Haifa.

The Palestinian resistance groups fired at least 100 rockets, including seven towards Jerusalem, while the rest of the rockets targeted Ashkelon, Sderot and settlements in the Gaza envelope.

According to the Palestine Red Crescent, at least 305 people were injured on Monday as Israeli forces fired rubber-coated bullets, tear gas, and stun grenades at Palestinians who were on guard to prevent possible raids by extremist Jews.

Tensions have run high in the Sheikh Jarrah area since last week as Israeli settlers swarmed in after an Israeli court ordered the eviction of Palestinian families.

Palestinians protesting in solidarity with the residents of Sheikh Jarrah have been targeted by Israeli forces.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and annexed the entire city in 1980 – a move that has never been recognized by the international community.
