Israeli Settlers' Storming Of Al-Aqsa Mosque Complex Draws Widespread Condemnation

The Muslim world reacted sharply to the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex by Israeli settlers in occupied East Jerusalem on Sunday.

Calling the incident, a "serious violation of international law," Saudi Arabia urged the international community to put an end to the escalation and provide necessary protection to Palestinian civilians.

In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said the attack violated the sanctity of holy sites in Jerusalem, contributing to rising tensions and prolonging violence amid the killing of Palestinian civilians in the ongoing Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip.

Pakistan, meanwhile, "strongly" condemned the storming under "the protection of Israeli occupying forces."

It called the incident a "provocative action" violating the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex and "hurt the sentiments of Muslims across the world," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Such incidents, it added, are flagrant violations of international law, norms, and practices, urging for any attempt to change the historical and legal status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque to stop.

Islamabad called on the international community to take "urgent action to put an end to the Israeli aggression and violations, which continue to fuel violence, tension, and instability in the region."

"For a lasting and just solution to the Palestinian issue, Pakistan renews its call for a viable, independent, and contiguous Palestinian State, with pre-1967 borders, and Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital, in accordance with the relevant UN and OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) resolutions," the statement said.

Jordan also denounced the storming of the mosque's complex by Israeli settlers, urging Tel Aviv to respect the sanctity of Al-Aqsa and halt measures, which aim to alter the site's "historical and legal status quo. "

In a statement, Jordan's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Haithan Abu Alfoul, underlined that the Amman-run Waqf (endowments) had exclusive jurisdiction over running the affairs of the mosque.

Qatar, also voiced similar sentiments, stressing that the "provocation" was part of attempts to alter the historical and legal status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In a statement, the Qatari Foreign Ministry called on the international community to act to halt Israel's attempts to "transform the ongoing conflict into a religious war."

The provocative violations that coincide with the recent airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, the statement added, would lead to a "dangerous escalation of violence," in the region.

Condemning the storming, fellow Gulf state Kuwait said the incident would increase violence and tensions, threatening the "stability" in the region.

In a statement, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry urged the global community to assume its responsibilities to curb such attacks and ensure the protection of Palestinians. -
