The Governor of Istanbul, Davut Gül, made an assessment regarding the issue of vehicles with flashing lights in Istanbul during a program he attended on Tv100. In response to the question of whether the problem of vehicles with flashing lights has ended, Governor Gül stated, "The police have over 7,000 vehicles. Police vehicles need to be used anyway. We also have official vehicles. There were a lot of fake flashing lights. We thank the Parliament. The fine, which was 6,000 TL, has become 96,000 TL. With the increase in fines, the number of fake flashing lights has decreased. Over time, these will be out of our lives." ARE THE STREETS OF ISTANBUL SAFE?Noting a decrease in crimes committed in Istanbul, Davut Gül continued his statements: "Before coming here, I looked at the latest figures. There is a 9.7% decrease in crimes against individuals compared to the previous year in Istanbul. The crime rates have significantly decreased. There is a 28% improvement in issues such as theft and pickpocketing against individuals. Now, the incidents we witness are perceived as if crimes are being committed on every corner. Istanbul is one of the safest cities. Our number of police has increased. Our number of vehicles has increased. Major operations have been carried out regarding wanted individuals in our practices." HOW IS SECURITY MAINTAINED ON THE STREETS?In the last 4 years, there has been no unsolved murder in Istanbul. Istanbul is a city where life goes on 24/7. You can see women and young people on the streets at 2 or 3 in the morning. THE NUMBER OF CAMERAS ON THE STREETS WILL INCREASE BY 150%The Ministry of Interior has made a protocol with ASELSAN. Especially on main streets, intersections, and important centers, our number of cameras will increase by approximately 150%. Lighting works are also being carried out. WHO IS USING FLASHING LIGHTS? WILL THERE BE AN INCREASE IN FINES FOR FAKE FLASHING LIGHTS?This issue has two dimensions. Everyone is suffering from traffic. To eliminate the traffic problem, public transportation and rail systems need to be used. We see that only one person is traveling in vehicles. The police have over 7,000 vehicles, and we also have official vehicles. There should be priority passage when needed. There were a lot of fake flashing lights. We thank the Parliament. The fine, which was 6,000 TL, has become 96,000 TL. The vehicle is also impounded. If it happens again, the fine increases. The number of fake flashing lights has decreased. Over time, these will be out of our lives. WHAT IS BEING DONE TO COMBAT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION?The system regarding immigration has settled. As you know, for the first time in the world, mobile immigration points started in Istanbul. WHAT IS BEING DONE FOR BEGGARS AND THE HOMELESS?As long as our fellow citizens provide material and moral assistance to beggars and those sleeping on the streets, in other words, as long as they provide in-kind and cash assistance, there is no possibility of solving this problem.
