Istanbul woke up to rain on the weekend.

After the extremely hot and humid weather, heavy rain occurred in Istanbul in the morning hours. It was observed that the drivers were driving cautiously on the E5 Highway as the roads quickly filled with water puddles.

SLOWNESS ON BRIDGE ENTRANCES AND CONNECTION ROADS

Due to the rain, which continued intermittently and increased in intensity, drivers moved slowly at the entrances of the 15 July Martyrs and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges and on the connection roads. Traffic flowed smoothly on the D-100 highway and some sections of the TEM Motorway. According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality traffic application, the traffic density in the city was measured as 31% as of 07:00.

HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE IN SOME AREAS UNTIL NOON

In the Kartal district, the sudden rain in the morning caused difficult moments for the citizens and drivers. Some citizens waited with umbrellas in their hands to avoid getting wet, while others looked for a place to take shelter when they forgot to buy an umbrella. The General Directorate of Meteorology announced that heavy rain will continue in some areas until noon today.
