The payment system has changed in HGS, which concerns millions of vehicle owners. With the new practice, the period of querying and paying violation toll debts via the license plates of vehicles belonging to others has ended. From now on, only registration certificate owners will be able to view and pay their own vehicles' debts via e-Devlet. While the payment transaction is carried out in 9 steps, this feature is currently not available in the e-Devlet mobile application. Drivers who use someone else's vehicle, on the other hand, will not be able to pay the toll debt directly.
The payment screen of the Fast Transit System used at highway and bridge crossings has been changed for violation crossings. Previously, by entering the license plate of any vehicle into the system, it was possible to query whether there was a crossing violation, and if there was, the debt could be paid.
With the new regulation, this practice has changed. To query and pay violation crossing debts, users must authenticate via e-Government. Thus, vehicle owners can only view the crossing information of vehicles registered in their own names.
9 STEPS ARE REQUIRED TO PAY THE DEBT
According to NTV's report, in the new system, drivers who want to pay an HGS violation crossing debt must perform multiple transactions. Vehicle owners who want to make a payment can access the relevant service by logging into e-Government via an internet browser and typing "My Vehicles" in the search section.
Then, they must select the vehicle for which they want to query debts from among the vehicles registered in their own names. Through the "Crossing" tab on the screen that opens, highway and bridge crossing information can be viewed.
If there is a violation crossing record for the vehicle, the debts are listed. By clicking the "Make payment" option next to the relevant debt, the card payment transaction can be completed.
THERE IS NO PAYMENT OPTION IN THE MOBILE APP
Another noteworthy detail of the new application was the method of accessing the payment screen. According to the information provided, the section where violation crossing debts can be paid is currently not included in the e-Government mobile app. Therefore, vehicle owners must carry out their transactions via an internet browser.
ATTENTION, THOSE WHO USE SOMEONE ELSE'S VEHICLE!
The change closely concerns drivers who use the vehicles of family members or friends in particular.
For example, if a driver who passes through a highway or bridge with a vehicle borrowed from a friend commits a violation crossing because the HGS balance is insufficient, they will no longer be able to directly query and pay the debt by entering the vehicle's license plate.
In this case, the vehicle owner will need to check the crossing debt from their own e-Government account. The person using the vehicle, on the other hand, can agree on payment by sending the crossing fee to the vehicle owner.
IT IS IMPORTANT FOR VEHICLE OWNERS TO CHECK THEIR DEBTS
With the new system, the responsibility of vehicle owners in tracking violation crossings has become even more important.
In particular, it is important for drivers who let others use their vehicles to regularly check their HGS balances and violation crossing records in order not to encounter possible delays and additional payment burdens.
