During a graduation celebration at a high school in the Şahinbey district of Gaziantep, 8 students were injured when helium-filled balloons exploded. The incident took place at Ayıntap Anatolian High School in Şahinbey district. According to allegations, the helium-filled balloons exploded for unknown reasons during the graduation celebration for the 2023-2024 academic year. After the explosion, flames engulfed the area, and 6 students near the explosion site were injured. While 6 of the students with burns in various parts of their bodies were treated on-site, 2 students were taken to the hospital after receiving initial medical intervention from the healthcare teams that arrived at the scene. The condition of the students is reported to be good. The moment of the explosion was captured on a mobile phone camera. In the footage, the explosion of the helium-filled balloons and the flames that erupted while students and parents were gathered together can be seen. Panic ensued among those present at the scene, and the footage also showed a girl student with burns on her face running in pain. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
