As the new year approaches, the increases that will be valid starting from 2025 have also become a topic of curiosity.
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance announced the revaluation rates and new tariffs for taxes, fees, and penalties that will be valid for the year 2025, along with the increases for many products and services.
TRAVEL AND MEAL EXPENSES
With the new year, the daily meal allowance exemption has been increased from 170 TL to 240 TL, and the travel allowance exemption has been raised from 88 TL to 126 TL. For employees, a monthly meal allowance of 6,240 TL and a travel allowance of 3,276 TL will be paid tax-free.
RENT, VALUE INCREASE, AND EXEMPTION AMOUNTS
The exemption amounts that taxpayers benefit from under income tax have also been increased.
The rental income exemption has been raised from 33,000 TL to 47,000 TL; the value increase gain exemption has increased from 87,000 TL to 120,000 TL.
The occasional gain exemption has been increased from 200,000 TL to 280,000 TL.
PASSPORT AND DRIVER'S LICENSE FEES
As of January 1, 2025, increases in passport and driver's license fees will also come into effect. The fee for a 1-year passport has risen to 3,449.40 TL, while the fee for a passport valid for more than 3 years has increased to 11,274 TL.
The fee for an A class driver's license has risen to 1,883.10 TL, and the fee for a B class driver's license has increased to 5,678.60 TL.
TELEPHONE TAX FOR IMPORTED PHONES
The tax fee applied to mobile phones brought by passengers has been increased from 31,692 TL to 45,614.20 TL. This increase represents a significant change, especially for those bringing devices from abroad.
MTV INCREASE
The MTV rates have been increased by 43.93%. With this increase, the MTV for a vehicle that was 2,343 TL in 2024 will be 3,372 TL in 2025. A quarter of this rate will be applied as tax for electric vehicles.
GASOLINE, DIESEL, AND LPG WILL INCREASE BY 77 KURUS
The ÖTV amount on 1 liter of gasoline will rise from 11.29 TL to 11.98 TL. This increase means that gasoline will see a price increase of 83 kuruş, including VAT. With this change, the ÖTV amount on diesel will rise from 10.59 TL to 11.23 TL. The increase, including VAT, will reflect a 77 kuruş rise at the pump.
PLASTIC BAG PRICE INCREASE
Following the decision made by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change in 2019, the plastic bag, which became chargeable and was sold for 25 kuruş, will be priced at 50 kuruş starting from January 1, with a 100% increase.
