Italian Coast Guard rescued at least 2,300 migrants in the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday, according to a media report.
The coast guard said it recovered two bodies in the 18 rescue operations it conducted throughout the day, Italian news agency ANSA reported.
Last week, the coast guard announced that it had saved some 2,300 other migrants in the Mediterranean Sea.
More than 45,500 migrants have arrived in Italy since the beginning of this year, according to official figures from the Italian Interior Ministry. -
