In Urla district of Izmir, M.E., who called Cem Hortum to talk because he met with his girlfriend, shot and killed him with a rifle, and then informed the police. M.E., who was waiting by the body, was taken into custody by the police who arrived at the scene.

A person in Izmir shot and killed Cem Hortum, whom he called to talk to because he was meeting his girlfriend. The person who called the police and reported himself waited at the scene until the officers arrived. The murder suspect was taken into custody by the police at the crime scene.

HE CALLED HIM ON THE PHONE TO TALK

The incident occurred at 02:30 on Neyzen Teyfik Street, Atatürk Neighborhood. According to allegations, M.E., who was working at a fish farm, saw Cem Hortum with his girlfriend a week ago. M.E. called Cem Hortum and told him that he wanted to talk and gave him an address to meet. The two met at the beach and started arguing there.

SHOT HIM WITH A HUNTING RIFLE AND REPORTED TO THE POLICE

As the argument turned into a fight, M.E. went to his nearby caravan and shot Hortum twice with a hunting rifle he took from there. Hortum collapsed to the ground after being shot in the abdomen and heart, and M.E. called the 112 Emergency Call Center to report himself.

WAITED FOR THE POLICE AT THE SCENE

The police officers went to the address given by M.E. along with medical personnel. When the officers arrived at the scene, they found M.E. waiting next to the fallen Hortum. After the health officer's examination, it was determined that Hortum had died, and M.E. was arrested with the murder weapon, the rifle. Hortum's lifeless body was taken to the Morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institute after the prosecutor's examination.

"I SAW HIM WITH MY GIRLFRIEND"

In M.E.'s statement after being taken into custody, he said, "I saw him with my girlfriend. I called him on the phone to talk about it and asked him to come to me. He threatened me. I was afraid he would do something. I shot and killed him with the rifle." It was revealed that M.E. had previously served 16 years in prison for the crime of killing another person. The funeral of Cem Hortum, who was killed, was held today at Iskele Mosque and he was buried in Özbek Neighborhood Cemetery after the afternoon prayer. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
