The information provided by Goldsmith Bilal Çay regarding the requirement to present identification for gold transactions exceeding 185,000 TL, which will come into effect on January 1, 2025, by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, stated, "It is a correct decision for controlling illegal transactions."

Bilal Çay, who has been a goldsmith in Kayseri for 25 years, said that the regulation could prevent illegal transactions, stating, "We can say that gold prices have been declining for the last 10 days. In fact, we can say for 2 weeks as well. These are an opportunity for investment. We can also say that these declines present a buying opportunity. Since gold is the safest haven, we can say that it is a long-term investment tool that investors prefer much more than foreign currency. The state has also made a decision for investors at this point. I believe this decision was made to prevent illegal purchases and transactions. Identification will be required for transactions over 185,000 TL and its multiples. We think it is correct to implement such a measure to control this."

Çay stated that tradesmen should also be careful in this regard, saying, "As a result of the decision made by the state, we will ask our customers for their identification, but we do not know how we can intervene here. There will certainly be those who do not want to provide it. However, in the end, we will need to obtain this. There will definitely be investors who are afraid of this situation, but since this is a matter of mutual trust, we always have infinite trust in our state. We believe it is a correct decision to ensure control over illegal transactions. Our tradesmen should also be careful in this situation," he expressed.
