Jordan Summons Israel Envoy Over 'Abuses' Remarks

The Jordanian government on Monday requested to summon Israel's ambassador in Amman Daniel Nevo against the background of remarks in which he criticized Jordanian members of parliament, a diplomatic source has said.



The Jordanian Foreign Ministry requested to summon the Israeli ambassador, who is in Tel Aviv at present, the source told The Anadolu Agency.



The move came following remarks made by Nevo in which he reportedly said that the Jordanian parliament had only cared about marginal issues.



The Jordanian Foreign Ministry has not confirmed the report.



Israel army radio had earlier "ed Nevo as saying that Jordanian MPs had only cared about marginal issues and that the MPs had only cared about their personal interests.



The Israeli diplomat was also "ed as saying that Jordanian lawmakers had viewed Jordanian escalation against Israel only through the prism of their personal interests and that parliament was not popular on the street.



"MPs only want to send the message to the royal court that they are against Israel," Nevo was "ed by the radio as saying.
