Kate Middleton made her first public appearance after announcing that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment. The 42-year-old Princess of Wales was seen attending a service with her husband Prince William and other members of the royal family at Crathie Kirk Church near Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Sunday, September 22. Kate showed a brief smile while sitting in the passenger seat of the car used by 42-year-old William. The princess wore a dark green wide-brimmed hat with feathers and a brown checkered coat, while William opted for a dark suit. King Charles and Queen Camilla were also photographed traveling to the church in separate vehicles. Kate's attendance at the church was her first appearance since announcing earlier this month that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment. The princess had shared her cancer diagnosis in March, also revealing that she had begun chemotherapy at that time. In an emotional video message released on September 9, Kate shared that she had completed her cancer treatment while appearing with Prince William and their three children, 11-year-old Prince George, 9-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 6-year-old Prince Louis. The princess said that finishing the treatment was a "relief" and continued in the video: "The last nine months have been incredibly difficult for us as a family. As you know, life can change in an instant, and we had to find our way through the stormy waters and the unknown path." Kate stated that she had done everything she could to "stay away from cancer" and mentioned that she would return to work "in the coming months."
