The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry updated the list of foods that have been counterfeited and adulterated, which could endanger people's lives and health, and the number of products that have been spoiled and altered in a dangerous way has risen to 72. Köfteci Yusuf was recently added to the list due to the presence of pork in its products. The report released by the ministry stated that the company at the center of the reactions was using pork in both its meatballs and döner. THEY DENIED THE ALLEGATIONSIn the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's inspections in 2024, it was claimed that pork was found in beef döner and meatball products. The company, which caused a significant stir on social media regarding the incident, denied the allegations by stating, "Pork has never been used in our products. A mistake was made during the sampling process." THE MINISTRY OFFICIALLY ADDED IT TO THE LISTIt was determined that the company 'Köfteci Yusuf', which was found to have pork in its products, was included in the list of counterfeit and adulterated foods published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. It was reported that inspections conducted in February at the two branches of the business in Bursa Yenişehir found pork in meatballs and beef döner products. For this reason, the company's relevant establishments were added to the "Foods that endanger health" section. THEY USED PORK IN BOTH MEATBALLS AND DÖNEROne detail in the report released by the ministry did not go unnoticed. It was stated that the company used pork not only in meatballs but also in döner. THEY SOLD THEIR PRODUCTS UNDER THE NAME "HALAL CERTIFICATE"On the other hand, following the reports shared about the famous meatball seller, the 'Halal Certificate' on the company's website became a topic of discussion. The statement in the relevant section is as follows: "20% of the beef and lamb of certain breeds that we use in our products comes from our own farm, 70% from contracted farmers and professional businesses, and 10% from large wholesalers from whom we make regular purchases. It is mandatory for our suppliers to use systems that ensure traceability by researching every stage of these animals from birth for reliability. We have our halal food certificate and document. Our institution is the first and pioneering organization in Turkey to qualify for a HALAL certificate, audited by the World Halal Union (WHU)."
