Köfteci Yusuf, which has been in the spotlight with allegations of using pork in its products, has made a new move that will be widely discussed. Köfteci Yusuf is establishing a wind power plant in Balıkesir.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PROCESS HAS STARTED
The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change announced on November 18 that the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process has been initiated for the "Köfteci Yusuf Wind Power Plant (WPP)" project planned to be carried out by "Köfteci Yusuf Ready Meals Cleaning Live Animal Meat Products Integrated Food Import Industry and Trade Inc."
THE REGION IS ON A BIRD MIGRATION ROUTE
According to a report by Sol Haber; it was stated that the WPP project planned to be built in the Tosunalanı area of Asmalıdere neighborhood in the Susurluk district of Balıkesir will consist of three separate turbines. It was noted that the area where the Köfteci Yusuf WPP, consisting of two separate projects, will be established is located on the Northwest-Southeast main migration route. Information was shared that it is particularly on the route of stork and raptor migrations occurring in the Istanbul-Çanakkale-Hatay section. The Project Introduction File (PIF) submitted to the ministry also included information and expert opinions indicating that the project area was identified as being on the bird migration route in studies conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
"THERE WILL BE NO PROBLEM FOR BIRDS"
In the expert report, it was emphasized that, depending on the length and impact area of the turbines and blades to be used, the area with a radius of approximately 100-150 meters around each turbine is considered dangerous for birds, and the following statements were made.
"Therefore, the distances between turbines in wind farms should be positioned considering this impact area, and distances should be left accordingly. In this case, it is seen that there is only one turbine in the area when considering the impact area of the distances between the turbines in Köfteci Yusuf WPP 5 and 6, and it is stated that there is no issue that would prevent birds from safely passing between the turbines without collision."
