While heavy rain was effective throughout the night in Çayeli, a landslide occurred around 06:00 in the Çarşıbaşı neighborhood. Soil masses that broke off from the slope filled the ground floors of two adjacent apartment buildings.

According to initial reports, 1 person trapped under the soil pile in one of the houses has lost their life. Upon notification, AFAD, fire brigade, and medical teams were dispatched to the address. Residents of the buildings, which also had injured individuals, were evacuated by the fire brigade.

Çayeli Mayor İsmail Hakkı Çiftçi stated in his announcement, "The rain continues, the risk persists. The 4.7 magnitude earthquake that occurred previously has disturbed the soil."
