RTÜK (Radio and Television Supreme Council) President Ebubekir Şahin, who has previously warned about programs broadcast during the daytime on television, has issued another stern warning. While providing information in the Parliament, Şahin stated that there have been 26,998 complaints regarding these programs since 2021.

"DAYTIME PROGRAMS ARE THE MOST WATCHED AND MOST COMPLAINED ABOUT"

According to a report in Türkiye Gazetesi, Şahin noted that this figure accounts for 13.4% of the total complaint rate, stating, "Daytime programs are produced by all channels, whether 'opposition' or 'non-opposition.' Daytime programs are the ones that receive the highest ratings, generate the most revenue, are the most watched, and are also the most complained about. We have held meetings with the managers. However, they pay attention to our warnings for two or three months, then they say: 'Our ratings have dropped, we are not being watched, we will return to this.' This does not mean that we should do everything to be watched." he said.

"IF NECESSARY, WE WILL REMOVE THEM COMPLETELY"

Şahin stated that they have published principle decisions regarding these programs as RTÜK, saying, "We trust these principle decisions. Any violations that occur from this point on will take the matter in a different direction. The next process is the final point. If it is said that 'nothing is changing,' ultimately, our colleagues know that this will be completely removed with a legal regulation, and they are aware of this. The principle decisions contain both strict measures and decisions that cannot be ignored. If we are left with no other choice, I think we need to move towards either removing this or completely eliminating it."
