Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who visited Turkey, spoke at a joint press conference held with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex.
"TURKEY HAS ALWAYS BEEN A SUPPORT COUNTRY IN EVERY DIFFICULT PERIOD"Mikati expressed his gratitude for Turkey's feelings towards Lebanon and its people, stating, "Throughout Lebanon's history, Turkey has been a support country in every complicated and difficult period." Mikati said, "As always, we have seen the close interest of your Excellency in this matter. Especially during the period when we were subjected to Israeli attacks in humanitarian and political contexts, the assistance, solidarity, and support you have shown mean a lot to us," emphasizing that this is not something new.
"ISRAEL IS NOT BEHAVING ACCORDING TO THE CEASEFIRE"Mikati drew attention to Turkey's close monitoring of all developments in Lebanon, emphasizing that his country has suffered serious damages economically, socially, and environmentally due to Israeli attacks for months. Mikati pointed out that these attacks have not stopped, stating, "They continue with daily violations. Israel is not behaving according to the ceasefire and is not adhering to the points specified in the ceasefire. You have a very extensive network of relations both internationally and in our region, as well as with Arab countries. In this context, I believe you will fulfill your role in supporting the countries that have been harmed as a result of Israeli attacks."
"ISRAEL HAS A NEW OPPORTUNITY"Mikati noted that there have been significant political transformations and changes in the region recently, stating that this context has presented an opportunity for Israel. He emphasized the need to exert pressure to stop this, saying, "We also support Syria's unity, freedom, and full sovereignty over all its territories, and I agree with all the points you have expressed in this context. As Lebanon, our cooperation with Turkey in this regard is important. I believe that in the new era, we will establish good neighborly relations with Syria within the framework of mutual respect and neighborliness."
"WE HAVE LEARNED TO TRUST GOD FIRST AND THEN TURKEY"Mikati stated that new doors for solidarity and cooperation will be opened in the coming periods, mentioning that these issues were also addressed in the bilateral meeting. Reminding that Lebanon is experiencing a crisis, Mikati said, "Perhaps we have experienced a crisis that can be described as very bad in every economic, financial, and social sense. However, we have learned that we need to trust God first, and then Lebanon's friends, especially Turkey."
