Libya To Hold National Conference İn April: Un Envoy

Libya's UN-backed National Conference will be held on April 14 in the western town of Ghadames, the UN envoy to the conflict-ridden country said on Wednesday.





"The invitations did not exclude anybody," Ghassan Salame said in a press conference held at the UN headquarters in the capital Tripoli.





He asserted that all Libyan sides will be represented in the conference as the list of invitees was prepared thoroughly.





Salame pointed out that the conference aims at forming a "political road-map to pull out Libya from the political deadlock and the economic and financial crisis."





Libya has remained beset by violence turmoil since 2011, when a NATO-backed uprising led to the ouster and death of President Muammar Gaddafi after four decades in power.





Since then, Libya's stark political divisions have yielded two rival seats of power -- one in Al-Bayda (with which Haftar is affiliated) and another in Tripoli -- along with a host of heavily-armed militia groups. -
