An unusual incident occurred in France. Lightning struck a football field where players were training.



According to Le Figaro newspaper, lightning struck a football field near the city of Lens, in Courrieres, which is located in the Pas-de-Calais region. According to a statement from the prefecture, the incident occurred while a football team of about 30 people was training at the Gabriel Peri field.



There is one fatality and two injured as a result of the lightning strike. The meteorological service, Meteo France, had raised the alert level to orange due to storms in the Pas-de-Calais region, where sporadic flooding has occurred since November.
