Magnitude 5.7 Earthquake Jolts Indonesia

A magnitude 5.7 earthquake jolted the Indonesian state of North Sulawesi on Sunday.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 158 kilometers (nearly 98.2 miles) off the Laikit village of North Sulawesi at a depth of 30 kilometers (18.6 miles), according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

Meanwhile, the country's Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency said that the quake was 5.9 magnitude and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

No fatalities or serious property damage have been reported, said the authorities, ruling out the possibility of a tsunami due to the quake. -
