The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) announced that the weather across the country will be partly and locally very cloudy. According to the latest forecast report, local showers are expected to be effective in the Lakes Region, Central Anatolia, the Eastern and inner parts of the Mediterranean, with strong rainfall in places in the Eastern Black Sea. A severe wind warning was issued for the southeast of Eastern Anatolia. According to AKOM, the country, especially Istanbul, will come under the influence of a heat wave originating from Africa and the Persian Gulf.
According to forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the country is expected to be partly and locally very cloudy, with local showers and thunderstorms expected in the Lakes Region, Eastern Mediterranean (excluding Mersin), the interior parts of the Western and Central Black Sea, Eastern Black Sea, northeastern Central Anatolia, the north and west of Eastern Anatolia, the surroundings of Afyonkarahisar, Çankırı, Konya, Karaman and Ordu, the interior and eastern parts of Muğla and Antalya, and the northern and eastern surroundings of Ankara.
"HEAVY RAIN AND WIND" WARNING
Precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the Eastern Black Sea region from noon onwards. Authorities warned citizens to be careful and cautious against adverse conditions such as floods, waterlogging, and disruptions in transportation.
The wind is expected to blow generally from the north, and from the south in the Mediterranean coastal areas and southeastern parts, light to occasionally moderate. In the southeastern part of Eastern Anatolia, precautions are requested against potential risks due to strong winds from the southwest (40-60 km/h).
WHEN WILL THE RAINS END?
Local showers and thunderstorms are expected to lose their effect across the country starting tomorrow.
According to meteorological data, precipitation is expected to end in the Lakes Region, Eastern Mediterranean excluding Mersin, the interior parts of the Western and Central Black Sea, Eastern Black Sea, northeastern Central Anatolia, and the northern and western parts of Eastern Anatolia.
In this context, rainy weather is expected to lose its effect in the northern and eastern surroundings of Ankara, the interior and eastern parts of Afyonkarahisar, Amasya, Antalya, Ardahan, Artvin, Bolu, Burdur, Çankırı, Çorum, Elazığ, Erzincan, Erzurum, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Isparta, Karabük, Karaman, Kars, Kastamonu, Kayseri, Konya, Malatya, the interior and eastern parts of Muğla, Ordu, Rize, Sivas, Tokat, Trabzon, Tunceli, and Yozgat.
HEAT WAVE OF BOTH AFRICAN AND BASRA ORIGIN IS COMING
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Department (AKOM) warned citizens against a new heat wave expected to affect Turkey in general, especially Istanbul.
The warning in the weekly weather forecast report shared by AKOM included the following statements:
"Almost all of our country, especially Istanbul, is entering under the influence of heat waves of both African and Basra origin. Due to the system expected to be effective in our region for the next 7-10 days, it is predicted that a mostly sunny sky will prevail throughout the week, and temperatures will increase starting from today and rise to 34-36°C by Thursday."
BULANIK VILLAGE WAS COVERED IN WHITE IN A SHORT TIME
The heavy rain affecting Kars turned into hail in the high elevations. Hail, effective for about 10 minutes around Bulanık village affiliated to the center, covered the region in white in a short time.
