Mexico's unemployment rate grew 0.3 percentage points on a monthly basis to reach 3.4% in May based on seasonally adjusted figures, official data showed on Tuesday.
The economically active population in the country stood at 59.1 million people in May with a participation rate of 59.6%, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography.
On an annual basis, the figure is a gain of more than 1.9 million from 57.1 million from the same month a year ago, according to the statistical institute.
The unemployment rate in May was 3.3% of the economically active population.
While this figure came above the market estimate of 3.1%, it stood at 3% a month ago and 4% in the same month of last year. -
