With the fuel price hikes, the signs at gas stations changed at midnight. While a 2.47 lira increase was reflected in the price per liter of gasoline and 7.76 lira for diesel, the price of diesel exceeded 90 lira in some cities. Drivers who saw the new prices were dismayed.
The expected increase in fuel prices has occurred. While a total increase of 3.29 liras was needed in the gasoline group, 25 percent of the increase was covered by SCT under the equalizer mobile system. Thus, a 2.47 lira increase was reflected in the price of gasoline per liter.
In diesel, however, a much higher increase occurred. While a 7.76 lira increase per liter was reflected at the pump, in some cities the price of diesel per liter exceeded the 90 lira threshold.
THOSE WHO SAW THE PRICE BOARD WERE DISPLEASED
As of midnight, the price boards at fuel stations were also updated according to the new prices. On the European side of Istanbul, gasoline rose to 76.62 liras per liter, and in Ankara to 77.60 liras.
While the price of diesel per liter reached 88.86 liras on the European side of Istanbul, it rose to 90.25 liras in Izmir. Thus, diesel exceeded the 90 lira threshold in Izmir. Drivers faced with the new figures started the day with increased fuel prices.
BRENT OIL AT $95-96 LEVEL
The movement in international oil prices was influential in the rise in fuel costs. Following the US's new attacks on Iran, Brent oil recorded an increase of up to 2.5 percent. The barrel price of Brent oil rose to $95-96 levels.
"SCT AND VAT SHOULD BE REMOVED"
Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, the New Party deputy for Zonguldak, called for a tax reduction following the increase in fuel prices. Yavuzyılmaz stated, "The SCT and VAT taken from fuel should be removed until the war definitively ends. The fuel costs of farmers, fishermen, transportation, logistics, and public transportation sectors should be directly supported."

Following the latest increases, on the European side of Istanbul, the price of gasoline rose to 76.62 TL per liter, and the price of diesel to 88.86 TL per liter. In Ankara, gasoline reached 77.60 TL per liter, while in Izmir, the price of diesel reached 90.25 TL per liter.
