An announcement has been made by the AK Party that concerns millions of civil servants and retirees. AK Party Deputy Chairman Vedat Demiröz made the statement, which will directly affect the lives of a wide range of people, stating that the State Civil Servants Law No. 657 and the retirement system could be changed.

AK Party Deputy Chairman Vedat Demiröz made statements regarding the number of civil servant employees exceeding 5 million, EYT (Early Retirement) and the social security system. Demiröz stated that deficiencies in the security system emerged after EYT and listed a series of suggestions to fix them.

IS A NEW PENSION SYSTEM COMING?

AK Party Deputy Chairman Demiröz stated that they are aware of the situation of retirees and said, "We need to review the retirement system of retirees. After EYT, the social security system became a bit more complex. Turkey needs to return to a normal, international level social security system as soon as possible."

INDICATION OF CHANGES IN 657

Vedat Demiröz said, "Maybe we need to make a new regulation in the 657 State Civil Servants Law to highlight and make the private sector more attractive." Emphasizing that everyone wants to work in the public sector in the current situation, he said, "When it's not like that, everyone burdens the state. We currently have over 5 million employees in the government. This is very high. Even though we switched to e-Government, which has its advantages, this number of government employees exceeding 5 million is a high figure in terms of salary payments and budget payments in the country."
