The Presidential Cabinet meeting, the first meeting of the new year, will be held today at Beştepe under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. One of the most important agenda items of the meeting will be the salary increase and welfare share for millions of civil servants and retirees.

The salaries for the year 2025 have been announced! Minimum wage earners received a 30% increase; civil servants and civil servant retirees received an increase of 11.54%; and SGK and Bağ-Kur retirees received an increase of 15.75%. While civil servants and retirees are demanding a welfare share, they have started to follow the Cabinet Meeting to be held today at Beştepe. Millions waiting for the welfare share are expecting the announcement of this decision today.

SALARY INCREASE ALSO RAISED TAX SHARE

The salary increases for employees lead to changes in tax brackets. Thus, the partial tax share deducted from the gross salary also increases.

The tax rates for 2024 and 2025 will remain the same. Last year, the first bracket in the tariff started at 110,000 TL, while in the new tariff, this figure has risen to 158,000 TL, and the highest bracket has increased from 3,000,000 TL to 4,300,000 TL.

MINIMUM WAGE EARNERS HAVE NOT PAID TAX FOR 3 YEARS

With the regulation that came into effect in 2022, the income tax of 15% and the stamp tax deduction of 0.79% from the minimum wage were abolished. This regulation will continue to be valid in 2025 and will be applied to all workers and civil servants.

MINIMUM WAGE EARNERS WILL NOT RECEIVE AGI

There are some misconceptions about the Minimum Living Allowance (AGI), which is calculated based on the amount of income tax paid by employees. Since no income tax is collected from the minimum wage, it will not be possible to provide AGI payments based on this amount.
