Miners who have been protesting against the privatization of the Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant for four days will meet with ministry officials on Monday. If no results are achieved from the meeting, the miners who have closed themselves underground will begin a hunger strike.

The protests of 500 miners who locked themselves in the Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant in the Nallıhan district of Ankara in reaction to its privatization continue on the 4th day. The actions, which gained public attention with the participation of power plant workers after the miners, began with the miners starting the day with support messages from earthquake victims.

THEY TOOK THEIR PICKS AND LEFT

The miners had gone to the disaster area immediately after the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquake and gained the appreciation of citizens by voluntarily working in the rubble.

SUPPORT FROM EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

Messages of solidarity also came from earthquake victims who were rescued from the earthquakes that occurred on February 6 to the miners in the protest. The earthquake victims expressed their support for the protection of the rights of the miners.

"IS ANYONE HEARING US?"

The miners responded to the call for solidarity from the earthquake victims rescued by miners during the February 6 earthquake by saying, "Is anyone hearing us?"

HUNGER STRIKE ON THE HORIZON

Today, Nurettin Akçul, the President of the Turkish Mine Workers' Union, made a statement in front of the power plant. In his statement, Akçul announced that if no results were obtained from the meetings to be held with the ministry, the miners who locked themselves underground on Tuesday would start a hunger strike.
