The first meeting of the Gaza Peace Council, which includes Turkey among its founding members, was held in Washington under the chairmanship of U.S. President Donald Trump. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, who attended the meeting on behalf of Turkey, representing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stated, "We can make meaningful contributions to the restructuring of the health and education sectors and the training of the police force. Additionally, we are ready to send troops to the International Stabilization Force."

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke at the first meeting of the Gaza Peace Council, which convened in Washington under the presidency of U.S. President Donald Trump.

"THE HUMANITARIAN SITUATION IS STILL FRAGILE"

Addressing Israel's attacks in Gaza, Fidan stated, "After two years of great suffering, a ceasefire has been achieved in Gaza thanks to the personal efforts of President Trump and our joint efforts. However, the humanitarian situation is still fragile, and ceasefire violations continue."

Turkey is currently providing a large amount of humanitarian aid to Gaza. We can also make meaningful contributions to the restructuring of the health and education sectors and the training of the police force.

Additionally, we are ready to send troops to the International Stabilization Force. Mr. President, Turkey will continue to support your efforts to establish and maintain peace. GAZA PEACE COUNCIL

On September 23, 2025, a meeting was held in Gaza with U.S. President Donald Trump and eight prominent Muslim leaders, including President Erdoğan, to achieve a ceasefire and peace. Following this meeting, a Peace Plan was announced by President Trump.

Within the framework of the Peace Plan, a joint statement was signed by Turkey, the U.S., Qatar, and Egypt at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit held on October 13, 2025, announcing the establishment of a ceasefire, which constituted the first phase of the Peace Plan. The Peace Plan was accepted by the UN Security Council's resolution 2803 dated November 17, 2025.

On January 14, it was announced that the Gaza Administration National Committee, consisting of 15 Palestinian technocrats, was formed to take over the administration of Gaza. On the same day, it was declared by U.S. President Donald Trump's Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, that the second phase of the Peace Plan had begun.

On January 16, the establishment of the Peace Council and the names that would be included in the relevant bodies were announced. In this context, the Peace Council, Executive Board, High Representation Office, Gaza Executive Board, and Gaza Administration National Committee were established.

Minister Fidan represented President Erdoğan at the signing ceremony held in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22, and signed the Peace Council Charter.
