Minister Kurum announced the toll of the Malatya earthquake: Necessary steps will be taken.

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake occurred yesterday at 10:46 AM in the Kale district of Malatya, and it was felt in surrounding provinces, especially in Elazığ. According to initial assessments, partial collapses occurred in 3 buildings.

"WE WILL TAKE ALL NECESSARY STEPS"

In a statement on social media, the Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, said, "We will complete our damage assessment work as soon as possible and take all necessary steps."

Kurum stated, "In Elazığ, 20 heavily damaged and 517 slightly damaged buildings have been identified, and in Malatya, 18 slightly damaged buildings have been detected. Our citizens should not worry. We will complete our damage assessment work as soon as possible and take all necessary steps."

1211 REPORTS EVALUATED

As of today, 25 teams affiliated with the General Directorate of Construction Affairs of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change are conducting damage assessment work in Malatya, while 27 teams are working in Elazığ. A total of 1211 reports have been evaluated in the two provinces.
