Minister Memişoğlu was a guest on Leader News TV with Neşe Berber. Answering questions about current issues, Memişoğlu also shared an incident from his medical internship.

EMOTIONAL WORDS

Describing an event he experienced in his 4th year of medical school, Memişoğlu said: "My late mother really wanted me to become a doctor. When I got into medical school, I didn't feel much joy. It's a tough job. Being a physician truly requires dedication. Engineering also requires dedication, but there you are doing calculations. Directly interacting with people is much more difficult and exhausting, in fact. But I always wondered if I should have become an engineer."

HE SHARED MOMENTS WHEN HE SAID "I'M GLAD I BECAME A DOCTOR"

However, an incident occurred in my 4th year. We wore white coats at Hacettepe in the 4th year. We had just started our internship. I was with a friend, and we were going to go upstairs from the emergency room. We were in our white coats, but we had just begun our internship. A woman said, "Something happened to my mother." At that moment, there was no doctor there. We saw that the patient had gone into cardiac arrest, her heart had stopped. My friend started with the breathing, and I began chest compressions. The patient turned around. Her heart started working.

They took the patient inside. And that day, I said, for this patient alone, I'm so glad I became a doctor. I assure you, doing good for a patient and being a means to save their life is an incredibly profound feeling. When I saw her, I thought, my mother was right, I'm really glad I became a doctor."
