Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, sharing the latest developments regarding the "Newborn Gang" investigation, announced that 22 of the 47 suspects who were detained have been arrested.

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made important statements regarding the investigation into the 'Newborn Gang' that deeply shook Turkey. Minister Tunç noted that the investigation was initiated on May 21, 2023, stating, "Out of the 47 suspects detained so far, 22 have been arrested."

Minister Tunç's statement is as follows:

Following applications made to CIMER regarding the rental of neonatal care units in some private hospitals in Istanbul and the occurrence of infant deaths due to inhumane and unsuitable conditions, an investigation was initiated by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on May 21, 2023, based on a tip-off from the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate. So far, 22 out of the 47 suspects detained have been arrested.

An indictment has been prepared for 47 suspects on October 16, 2024, and the trial process continues for these suspects, 22 of whom are in custody.

On the other hand, an investigation has been initiated by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the threat against the public prosecutor assigned to the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, resulting in the detention of 8 suspects, 5 of whom have been arrested, and judicial control measures have been imposed on 3 others.

This investigation is also ongoing in a multifaceted and meticulous manner.
