Minister Tunç: We will continue to take decisive measures to prevent harmful trends.

13.11.2024 12:40

The Minister of Justice, Yılmaz Tunç, stated, "We will continue to take decisive measures to prevent harmful movements, including gender-neutralization, which is heavily promoted globally and threatens the family in our country. We must implement all constitutional and legal regulations in this regard."

Minister Tunç, in his speech at the 1st Meeting of the Coordination Board for the Protection and Strengthening of the Family held at the Presidential Complex, stated that the family is the core of society, the place where love, respect, and all values first sprout.

Emphasizing that the peace of society can only be achieved through the protection and strengthening of the family, Tunç expressed that the key stone of the family is women.

Tunç highlighted that while protecting women's rights, they also openly and unequivocally reject violence against women, viewing it as a violation of human rights, and stated that they operate under the principle of zero tolerance in this regard.

Recalling that they have implemented many important constitutional, legal, and administrative regulations regarding the protection and strengthening of the family, as well as women's and children's rights in the last 22 years, Tunç said, "In this context, we have guaranteed in the constitution that women and men have equal rights, that positive discrimination is granted to women and children, that children have the right to establish and maintain personal and direct relationships with their parents, and that the state has the obligation to take protective measures against all forms of abuse and violence against children."

NUMBER OF FEMALE PERSONNEL IN JUDICIAL SERVICES

Tunç stated that they attach great importance to the participation of women in justice and judicial services, saying, "In this context, while the number of female judges and prosecutors was 1,847 in 2002, we have increased this number by 406% to 9,355 today. Currently, out of a total of 3,642 judges, prosecutors, and assistants, 1,690 are women. Among the 95,870 personnel working in our justice organization, 46,021, or approximately half, are female personnel."

Pointing out that they are also sensitive about the rights of children, which is another important main element of the family, Tunç stated that the protection of children is the most fundamental constitutional duty of the state.

Expressing their determination to protect the family and its members, Tunç said, "In this context, in our Turkey Century Judicial Reform Strategy Document, which we have completed the preparatory work for and will be announced by our President in the coming days; we will include many goals and activities aimed at preventing violence against women, protecting the family from harmful trends, and safeguarding our children from cyber crimes and cyberbullying."

"WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY DIGITAL PLATFORM THAT DISCONNECTS CHILDREN FROM THEIR FAMILIES"

Minister Tunç continued his speech as follows:

"We will continue to take resolute measures to prevent harmful trends that threaten the family in our country, including gender-neutralization, which is heavily propagated globally. We must implement all constitutional and legal regulations in this regard. Keeping our children away from harmful publications and content, protecting them from all forms of neglect and abuse, and ensuring their healthy development is one of our foremost duties. We will never allow any digital platform that encourages violence against our children, harms them psychologically, and disconnects them from their families by distancing them from our social values, whether in digital games or chat rooms. All kinds of sanctions, including access restrictions and shutdowns for such platforms and pages, will be resolutely applied."

Stating that they are also determined in the fight against drugs and will not back down from this determination, Tunç said, "In addition, the Turkish judiciary will resolutely continue its fight against crimes such as virtual betting and illegal gambling that poison our youth and children, like digital drugs."
