Conversations, blackmail, sexual content, coercion, and threats that took place through some Discord groups in Turkey have come to light. In a video that spread on social media, a girl said she was forced to harm herself by individuals in this group, while Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that the footage was staged. THE PERPETRATOR ALSO COMMUNICATED THROUGH DISCORDOn the other hand, it was determined that Semih Çelik, a 19-year-old perpetrator who brutally murdered two young girls in Istanbul and then committed suicide by jumping from the walls, had communicated with individuals referred to as "incels" again through Discord. "NECESSARY STEPS WILL BE TAKEN"Following all these events, action has been taken regarding Discord. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated in his remarks about the 'Discord' application, "Necessary steps will be taken." MINISTER URALOĞLU: IT HAS ENTERED MY RADARUraloğlu made the following statements; "Now, this has also entered my radar a bit. For example, it seems that you cannot directly become a member there. You can only join with someone's reference. It has a completely such infrastructure. In fact, this situation makes it a bit difficult to enter there, we can say it disciplines as well. When you look at the content, it is really impossible not to be horrified. "SPECIFIC MEASURES WILL NEED TO BE TAKEN IN THE COMING DAYS"During the week, we had an intense working session with both the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Family and Social Services, and the Ministry of Justice. We consulted on what needs to be done, especially regarding Discord. Specific measures will need to be taken in the coming days. We will take these measures, hopefully. Family and children are our most valuable assets, and I believe we all need to protect them." ##17900262##
