  • 9 Palestinians, including 6 children, killed in Israeli airstrike on central Gaza
At least nine Palestinians including six children were killed and many others injured on the first day of the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday due to an Israeli airstrike on a house in the al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

"Some nine martyrs, including six children, were brought to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah as a result of the Israeli occupation forces' airstrike on a house in al-Bureij refugee camp," a medical source told Anadolu.

Earlier in the day, eyewitnesses told Anadolu that medical teams retrieved a number of martyrs and injured people, including an infant, as a result of an Israeli airstrike on a house in the al-Bureij refugee camp.

  • Ukrainian president says efforts to reach peace should last 'months, not years'
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that efforts to reach peace should last "months, not years."

Zelenskyy's remarks came during a joint press briefing following the end of a summit along with the leaders of Canada, Chile, Ghana and the European Union.

"We are at war, and we don't have time for prolonged work," he warned.

  • Xi said US trying to 'goad Beijing' into attacking Taiwan: Report
Chinese President Xi Jinping told European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen that Washington was trying to "goad Beijing into attacking Taiwan," the Financial Times said.

In a report based on information from people familiar with the matter, the British daily said Xi issued the warning in a meeting with von der Leyen in April 2023. She paid an official visit to China last year which coincided with a state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron.

According to the daily, Xi said the US was trying to trick China into invading Taiwan but that he would not take the bait.

There was no winner in a Group C showdown between Denmark and Slovenia, which ended 1-1 at the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship (EURO 2024) on Sunday.

Denmark's veteran midfielder Christian Eriksen, who frightened fans at the last European Championship in 2020 when he had a heart attack on the pitch and had to leave the game, brought the lead to his team with a calm strike from close range in the 17th minute at Stuttgart Arena.

After making several vital saves, Slovenian goalie Jan Oblak denied a very promising goal chance for Rasmus Hojlund in the 65th minute.

  • Netherlands beat Poland 2-1 in Group D match at EURO 2024
The Netherlands beat Poland 2-1 in a Group D match at the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship (EURO 2024).

Polish forward Adam Buksa brought the lead to his team with a header to a corner kick in the 16th minute at Volksparkstadion.

The Flying Dutchmen wasted several scoring chances, with some of their attacks denied by Poland goalie Wojciech Szczesny, but they finally managed to equalize with Cody Gakpo's goal in the 29th minute. -
