WHAT HAPPENED?

The Bartın Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that 33 people were arrested in the investigation into the 'sexual abuse' of a 13-year-old girl living in the Amasra district, and the prepared indictment was accepted by the Bartın 2nd Heavy Penal Court.

In a statement made by the Bartın Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on May 9th, it was stated: "Upon allegations that a child born in 2013 residing in the Amasra district of Bartın province was subjected to sexual abuse, following a report made to law enforcement on 18.04.2026, a comprehensive investigation was urgently launched by our Bartın Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. As the investigation file was transferred to our courthouse on April 28, 2026, considering the sensitivity and scope of the incident, the highest level of coordination was ensured by our judicial units and all necessary measures were taken promptly. In light of the meticulous work carried out and the digital evidence obtained, a strong suspicion of crime was reached that our victim child was abused by individuals she communicated with via social media. Within this scope, an indictment was prepared on 08.05.2026 against 10 Children Drawn into Crime (SSÇ) and 26 suspects who were determined to have participated in the act."

In the statement noting that the trial had begun in the heavy penal court, the following was also recorded: "The prepared indictment was accepted by the Bartın 2nd Heavy Penal Court, and the trial process has started. Within the scope of the ongoing trial case, currently 9 SSÇ and 24 suspects, a total of 33 individuals, are under arrest, while judicial control provisions are applied to 3 individuals. By our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the legal process is being followed with determination and sensitivity for the protection of our victim child and the most severe punishment of the criminals before the law. Avoiding any kind of sharing that could reveal the victim's identity is of great importance for protecting the best interests of the child."
