Selçuk Özdağ: There will be an early election in 2027.

02.10.2024 13:40

The Future Party's Muğla Deputy Selçuk Özdağ spoke to Haberler.com before the opening ceremony of the new legislative year of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. He stated that Turkey needs an early election, saying, "There will be an early election in 2027."

The Group Chairman of the Felicity Party, Muğla Deputy Selçuk Özdağ, answered questions from Haberler.com regarding the agenda. He stated that the opposition has very little influence in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) and called for early elections.

Felicity Party Group Chairman Selçuk Özdağ said: "The opposition has absolutely no involvement in any law that has been passed in the Assembly today. They pass through the commissions easily and come to the floor. And I address our nation. What awaits us, and what awaits them? If the 70 laws they have enacted in these 15 months have made you rich or happy, continue to vote for them. The Presidential Government System was supposed to make the parliament very strong, and the parliament was to be managed by the legislative proposals of the deputies; such a thing is absolutely not the case."

"THERE WILL BE EARLY ELECTIONS IN 2027"

"Mr. Erdoğan has previously stated together with Mr. Devlet Bahçeli that there will be no elections. They made the decision for early elections 15 days later. Mr. Erdoğan and his friends will decide on early elections whenever it is in their favor because he wants to run again. The constitutional amendment proposal they have brought today is also a proposal to make Mr. Erdoğan a candidate again. It is aimed at getting him elected for the fourth time. It is a maneuver to create the 40+1%. There will be early elections, but it will be in 2027."

"TURKEY NEEDS A CONSTITUTION"

"Does Turkey need a constitution? Yes. But this Assembly cannot make that constitution. Those who do not comply with the current constitution cannot create a new constitution. Our proposals to the Ministers are not being answered. The penalty for not responding to this is life imprisonment. We need a political party law. We need a parliamentary internal regulation."
