In Antalya in 2014, Şeref Kocabıyık, who was initially thought to have died in a fire at a construction site, was actually found to have been murdered. After the case was reopened 12 years later, phone and HTS analyses led to the detention of 4 suspects implicated in the murder.

On November 25, 2014, at around 10:00 PM, a fire broke out in the guard shack of a construction site owned by Şeref Kocabıyık (56) on Mehmet Atay Street in the Kepez district of Antalya. The fire, which engulfed the shack, was extinguished by the fire department. After the fire, during an inspection of the shack, Şeref Kocabıyık's lifeless body was found. As part of the investigation, the police took statements from workers at the construction site.

The file of Şeref Kocabıyık, who was initially believed to have died in the fire, was reopened 12 years later. It was determined that the victim's missing mobile phone was used after the incident, and cell tower and HTS records were analyzed. As part of the investigation, 4 people were taken into custody.

KILLED WITH A SHARP OBJECT

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement on his social media account regarding the issue. In his statement, Gürlek said, 'The murderers of Şeref Kocabıyık, who was killed with a sharp object on November 25, 2014, in Kepez, Antalya, and whose body was subsequently burned, were identified through phone analyses. With the reopening of the file, it was determined that the victim's missing mobile phone was used after the incident, and cell tower and HTS records were analyzed in detail. In light of strong evidence obtained, 4 suspects, found to have participated in the murder, were taken into custody in simultaneous operations.'
