In the second round match of the US Open, our national tennis player Zeynep Sönmez faced Marta Kostyuk from Ukraine and lost to her 2-1.

Zeynep Sönmez was eliminated in the 2nd round of the season's last grand slam tennis tournament, the US Open, after losing 2-1 to Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.

Zeynep Sönmez COULDN'T FINISH

The 23-year-old Zeynep, ranked 81st in the world, faced 27th seed Kostyuk in the 2nd round match of the women's singles at the tournament held in New York City. Zeynep lost the first set 7-5 but won the 2nd set 7-6, taking the match to a final set.

FAREWELL TO THE US OPEN

The national tennis player, who was leading 3-2 in the final set, lost the set 6-3 and the match 2-1, thus bidding farewell to the US Open, where she made her main draw debut for the first time.
