The funerals of the mother and son, who were killed by their neighbor in the same building in Mersin, were laid to rest side by side today in tears after the autopsy procedures were completed.
The incident occurred yesterday in the central Mediterranean district of Mithat Paşa Neighborhood, where M.T. (25), who is alleged to be mentally unstable, shot and killed his neighbor Remziye Kaya (50) and her son Mazlum Kaya (26) with a gun while they were living on the upper floor of the same building.
After the murder, M.T. exited the building, took a taxi, and went to a liquor store in the Arpaçsakarlar Neighborhood of the Toroslar district, where he shot and killed the operator Ahmet Turgut for not giving him free alcoholic drinks. The suspect also fired at the taxi driver and was captured by police teams after being shot in the leg with the gun he used in the incidents.

A funeral ceremony was held today at the Güneykent Cemetery for Remziye and Mazlum Kaya, who lost their lives. When the bodies were brought to the cemetery, family members experienced great pain, and some fainted. Remziye Kaya and her son Mazlum Kaya were laid to rest side by side in tears after the funeral prayer. Meanwhile, it was learned that the murder suspect M.T. was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station.
