Within the scope of the 2027 program, with 44 average speed detection systems to be put into operation in order to increase traffic safety, the average speed of vehicles between two points will be monitored, while a total of 115 million vehicles and drivers will be checked by police and gendarmerie teams.
A new era is beginning in traffic inspections. Within the scope of 2027, 44 average speed control systems are planned to be used, while the aim is to inspect millions of vehicles and drivers throughout the year. With the new practice, drivers exceeding the speed limit will be brought under control much more comprehensively.
The regulation covering the areas of responsibility of the police and gendarmerie stands out as part of efforts to increase traffic safety. Inspections will focus not only on speed measurements at specific points but on the average speed of vehicles between two points.
44 NEW SPEED CONTROL SYSTEMS WILL BE USED
In the 2027 program, 44 average speed violation detection systems are envisaged to be used. These systems calculate the average speed of vehicles between two points by recording their entry and exit times on the designated route. If a driver exceeds the speed limit not only at the point where the camera is located but along the controlled road, a violation can be detected. Thus, it becomes possible to inspect drivers who slow down in front of the radar and then speed up again. A detailed list of the routes where the systems will be used is expected to be announced in the coming period.
INSPECTIONS WILL BE INCREASED
Under the new program, it is aimed to inspect 60 million vehicles and drivers in the gendarmerie's areas of responsibility and 55 million in the police's areas of responsibility. In addition to speed controls, 300 special inspections will be carried out for violations that cause traffic accidents. Shared databases will be used to conduct inspections more effectively, and new features will be added to the Traffic Safety Analysis System.
TRAINING FOR 75 THOUSAND STUDENTS WITH MOBILE TRUCKS
In the program, traffic education also holds an important place alongside increasing drivers' compliance with rules. Through mobile traffic education trucks, it is aimed to provide traffic safety training to 75 thousand students.
