The US is reportedly preparing to implement a paid expedited appointment system for business and tourist visa applications. According to the claim, applicants can secure an appointment within 10 days by paying an additional $750 on top of existing fees. The system, planned for certain embassies and consulates, will only expedite the appointment process and will not guarantee visa approval.
The US Department of State is reportedly preparing to implement a new practice for business and tourist visa applications. According to a report by the Associated Press, based on documents it obtained and statements from a department official, a pilot program is being developed to expedite visa appointments.
APPOINTMENT OPPORTUNITY WITHIN 10 DAYS
Allegedly, under the program, individuals applying for a US visa for business or tourism purposes will be able to benefit from expedited appointment services by paying an additional $750 on top of the standard application fee.
It is aimed that applicants using this service can secure an appointment within 10 days.
PILOT APPLICATION MAY START ON JULY 1
The report stated that the practice, expected to be announced this week, is planned to be piloted at certain US embassies and consulates between July 1 and December 31.
It is considered that the scope of the practice could be expanded if successful.
WILL NOT GUARANTEE A VISA
Meanwhile, it was stated that the additional $750 fee would be entirely optional. Officials emphasized that this fee would only expedite the appointment process and would not guarantee visa issuance.
Even if applicants obtain an expedited appointment, they will still be subject to the existing visa evaluation processes.
