In the investigation into the deaths of Gülşah, Muhammet Ali, and Belinay Sakar, whose lifeless bodies were found in the sea in Darıca district of Kocaeli, hundreds of security camera recordings were examined, and statements from witnesses and family members were taken. While the fact that the two sisters left their mobile phones at home, conversations within the family, notes in a notebook found at home, and camera recordings were evaluated together, it was learned that the possibility of suicide is being considered in the investigation.
The investigation into the deaths of 24-year-old Gülşah Sakar, 17-year-old Muhammet Ali Sakar, and 15-year-old Belinay Sakar, whose bodies were found in the sea on August 20 in the Darıca district of Kocaeli, continues under the coordination of the Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor's Office by teams from the Kocaeli Police Department's Public Order Branch Directorate. Within the scope of the investigation, camera recordings and other evidence regarding the period from the moment the siblings left their home until the time their lifeless bodies were found were examined.
THEY LEFT HOME AT 03:50
Security camera recordings determined that the three siblings left home together around 03:50. Teams from the Public Order Branch Directorate examined recordings from hundreds of security cameras along the route the siblings followed after leaving their home. In the recordings, the siblings were seen walking towards Şehit Cevher Dudayev Park in the Cami Neighborhood of Darıca. It was determined that the three siblings, reflected on business and site cameras, sometimes walked arm in arm and sometimes side by side.
50-METER BLIND SPOT
It was determined that the siblings proceeded towards the area with cliffs around 04:00. It was noted that the approximately 50-meter section after this point remained outside the field of view of security cameras. No footage showing where and how the siblings entered the sea could be obtained. It was determined that there was a distance of approximately 20-30 meters between the last point where the siblings were seen on security cameras and the area where their lifeless bodies were found.
NO EVIDENCE FOUND OF A FOURTH PERSON
Within the scope of the investigation, the possibilities of whether the siblings had contact with other people on the night of the incident and whether they were taken to another location by sea were also investigated. Records from boat and rowboat rental businesses in the area were examined. It was learned that no evidence has been found so far indicating another person's involvement in the incident during the examination of camera recordings along the route the siblings followed from home to the shore.
THE TWO SISTERS' PHONES WERE FOUND AT HOME
In the investigation, it was determined that Gülşah and Belinay Sakar left home without taking their mobile phones, and the devices were found at home. Leaving the phones at home was also taken into consideration in the investigation along with other evidence. It was learned that while the image analysis of the phones has been completed, the teams' examinations continue.
CONVERSATIONS WITHIN THE FAMILY REFLECTED IN STATEMENTS
In the statements taken by the police, information was included that after the issue of their mother remarrying came up, the siblings discussed their future among themselves. Statements indicating that the siblings occasionally had problems with their mother and discussed the issue of leaving home among themselves were also included in the investigation file.
STATEMENT OF THE OTHER SIBLING TAKEN
The statement of the other sibling, B.S. (21), who was at home on the night of the incident, was also taken. It was learned that in his statement, B.S. provided information about his siblings' relationship with their mother, recent events within the family, and the process before the incident. In his statement, B.S. reportedly said that after the issue of his mother remarrying came up, his siblings discussed leaving home among themselves. It was also reported that B.S. said that after he recently adopted a more moderate approach towards his mother, his siblings began to behave distantly towards him and did not take him with them on the night of the incident. It was also claimed that B.S. said he was angry with his mother because male friends came to the house, and that he always kept his door locked for this reason.
PLACED IN A WOMEN'S SHELTER
It was stated that after the statement procedures, B.S., stating that he did not want to go with his mother or father and did not feel safe, was placed in a women's shelter. It was noted that B.S. also did not meet with his father, who later wanted to see him.
DAYS BEFORE THE INCIDENT ALSO INVESTIGATED
Within the scope of the investigation, from the statements taken and information obtained, it was learned that in the 2-3 day period before the incident, the siblings occasionally consumed alcohol at home. It was determined that on the night of the incident, B.S. went to his room, locked his door, and slept, while the other three siblings left home together around 03:50.
CALLED HIS SIBLINGS IN THE MORNING
It was learned that when B.S. woke up in the morning and did not see his siblings at home, he went out to look for them, going to the seaside area they frequently visited and searching there. Unable to find his siblings on the shore, B.S. looked in other places, and later recounted being found by the police.
NOTEBOOK AT HOME TAKEN FOR EXAMINATION
During the examination at home, a notebook, considered to belong to one of the siblings, was found. It was stated that the notebook contained notes about Tansu, the family's child who drowned 10 years ago. It was noted that among the notes were expressions such as 'The sea took you from us' and 'We miss you so much'. It was recorded that the notebook also contained writings about the siblings' experiences and concerns about the future.
POSSIBILITY OF SUICIDE
The two sisters leaving their mobile phones at home, the statements of family members, information about the conversations the siblings had about leaving home, the notes in the notebook found at home, and data obtained from camera recordings were all evaluated together within the scope of the investigation. It was reported that, based on the current findings obtained, the possibility of suicide is being considered.
The investigation, coordinated by the Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the Kocaeli Police Department's Public Order Branch Directorate, continues.
